About Ismérie

Born in Paris, Ismérie was pursuing her Law Degree in Toulouse, France, when she discovered her voice. She was soon hired to sing in the Chorus of the “Opéra du Capitole de Toulouse”, which she did for two seasons while completing her studies.

She left for New York to study at the Mannes School of Music. There, she sang with the New York Grand Opera in the Verdi Cycle, and the role of Mimi in La Bohème conducted by Maestro La Selva.

Ismérie gave her debut recital, accompanied by Helen Yorke, at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall, then at Notre Dame de Lorette and in Paris, France, in 1999. She was twice selected to be a finalist in the Classical Productions Competition.

Exhibiting her diverse talents, she has participated in several recitals of French Poetry at the Maison Française of Columbia University, the French Consulate and The National Arts Club in New York City, organized by Le Club Poétique de New York.

In 2000, Ismérie sang in the New Rochelle Opera Festival and gave a recital of French Songs and Arias at the United Nations. She also worked on the role of Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro in Italy, working with Mignon Dunn and Mark Oswald.

In 2001, she gave a concert in New Canaan, CT, which included excerpts from La Bohème and La Traviata (with W. Safkow, tenor and N. Ishida, pianist). Ismérie went back and forth between New York and Europe, spent 5 months in Rome studying with Adriana Giunta, came to New York to sing the First Lady in Amato’s Production of the Magic Flute, until she settled back in Toulouse in 2002.

Since her return, she has sung in Mozart’s "Solemn Vespers", Rossini’s "Petite Messe Solennelle" and was chosen to do a Professional Training Program with G. Bacquier and M. Command. She has also been giving recitals in several famous concert Halls, playing in a musical : "Zapping-Pong", performing in a cabaret show with the "Melting Potes Trio" , and in a World Premiere show around Reynaldo Hahn’s renovated piano( with H. Humeau, tenor and C. Berenguer, pianist). Ismérie is now singing with the Opera du Capitole de Toulouse Chorus for the 2004-05 season.

Her upcoming engagements include a concert series in June in New England, singing "Arias for the Rainforest", for the benefit of Costa Rica’s endangered Rainforest.

Feeling very much at ease on stage, Ismérie shows her true nature when performing; her dramatic inclination transpires in her singing which we can hear on her several recordings of selected opera arias.

"She possesses a rich enchanting voice and draws the audience into her art", wrote Bob Schartoff in Classical News.
